population growth and increase of jobs
Small towns all over North Dakota are booming. between April 2010 to July 2011 Williston gained 24, 374 people or swelled 8.8% according to the census. Dickinson"s population also grew about 4.3%. Schools are bursting through the seems and there is a shortage of class room and teachers. Housing has become scarce and the housing that is availbale come with a very high cost. North Dakota has had trouble keeping up with the mass amount of people flowing into the state. The population estimate for 2014 was 739,482. From 2010 to 2014 the population has risen about 9.9%.
The reason for the increase in population is because of the new job market of North Dakota, there are more jobs available here than anywhere else. Between 1998 and 2013 there has been 132,000 increase of jobs; an increase of 41%. There is a high demand for jobs that are willing to pay workers a high price, this has people flocking to the state, with over 20,000 oil jobs available and many more in the service, retail, and business areas.
