change in ideology, innovation, and diversity
Advances in Technology have made fracking and obtaining oil much easier, such as horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing. North Dakota's scenery has changed dramatically from this oil boom. With a more diverse population, this conservative state is slowing starting to change with its influxations and different races, cultures, and political values. Although this hasn't changed North Dakota from changing its red values, there is a chance that in the future North Dakota could be seeing some change politically. From a once scandinavian dominated state, there is now more diversity in North Dakota than it has ever seen before. Between 2010 and 2013 there has been a 50% increase in Hispanics and African Americans. The Bismarck school district reports that they have received over 130 students from different speaking culture in just one summer. Students from Germany, Africa, Mexico, Brazil, and many other places find themselves here in North Dakota. The racial minority population has grown by 1/4 over the past 9 years.
